Students at Yu Ming Charter School once again performed well in statewide standardized exams in English Language Arts and Literacy and Mathematics. Last spring, students in grades 3-5 took the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), also called SBAC for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium that administers the exams.
According to the results released in September by the California Department of Education, 79 percent of Yu Ming students overall met or exceeded standards in English, while 83 percent of students did the same in Mathematics.
The spring 2016 assessments were only the second year the new exams were given after the state transitioned to the Common Core State Standards in publicly funded schools. This year’s results were consistent with Yu Ming’s performance the previous year.
