Yu Ming Charter School is looking for volunteers!

Yu Ming starts with you!  Parent and volunteer involvement in any school can make the difference between a good school and a great school.  At Yu Ming, there are many ways that family and community members can participate and contribute, regardless of availability, skills or interests.

Volunteers are the heart of our school and we want to thank all of our many volunteers who make Yu Ming a great school every day!

Help Needed Now!

Social Team – We need people to join the social events team.  The team meets two or three times a year to brainstorm and plan social events for families outside of school hours. Your involvement other than that is up to you! We would like to get a couple of parents from each grade to join this fun team. Please contact Dennis Dornan drdornan@hotmail.com if you would like to help.
Enrollment Outreach:  Assist community outreach team leader to create plan and reach out to geographically and ethnically diverse communities.  Please contact Dave Cherry dcherry@yumingschool.org if you can help.
Translation Team – We need people to help with written translation (traditional characters) of school and administrative materials. This can be done at home in your own time. Please contact Kristen Wendelken wendelken@gmail.com if you would like to help.
Finance committee – We need members for this committee who may have the following skills: knowledge of various funding sources for schools, grants, government budget programs and debt financing; passion and interest in charter school finances; experience in accounting, financial planning and analysis, forecasting. The work is in your own time and project based.  Examples of types of projects include reviewing and revising Financial Policies and Guidelines, identifying and researching potential sources of funding, loans, etc. and researching cost savings opportunities.Please contact committee chair Ted Rebholz trebholz@yumingschool.org if you would like to help.

Marketing: Help get the word out about Yu Ming!  Volunteers needed with online and offline marketing experience.  Experience in education or with non-profits/fundraising a plus, as well as email and social marketing.

 

Parent Newsletter Writers:  1-2 people to assist newsletter editor with writing content, including write-ups and pictures from significant events.

 

Yu Ming website producers: 2-3 people to maintain and enhance www.yumingschool.org. Need to be HTML/Wordpress savvy.

 

Yu Ming Annual Report Editor:  A year round job, gathering stats and stories that convey Yu Ming’s success.  Help compile Annual Report for donors, authorizers, etc.

Grant writing:  Help write grants to foundations and corporations to fund Yu Ming

Online and parent fundraising activities:  Help set up and promote eScrip, Facebook Causes, merchandise and other online fundraising activities. Identify best opportunities and coordinate with fund development team and other parents to generate fun ideas for raising money for Yu Ming.

Legal Support:  Provide legal advice in the areas of immigration, non-profit, general corporation, tax and employment Law

Volunteers for Chinese New Years Outreach:  Help us reach out to the community around Chinese New Years in January and February
