Cervante has been in education for 9 years. Before coming to Yu Ming he was the Dean of Students for charter schools in Sacramento and Richmond. In this role, he created systems to best support the whole child. Building strong relationships with students, families, and faculty, he increased hundreds of students’ classroom engagement. Cervante earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Seattle University and received his Masters of Art in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. In addition to his work in schools, Cervante is a private educator for individuals with autism. As a school leader, he is committed to the work of upholding a positive school culture and looks forward to supporting the Yu Ming community with systems to empower both faculty and students.
Born and raised in Sacramento, Cervante often visited family in San Francisco and understood at a young age the Bay Area would be his home. Between good food and first time experiences, he values the moments with his family. Cervante believes every child is a blank canvas on the journey to their own masterpiece.
