Emily Wood, Chief Operations Officer, previously served as the Head of School at Guidepost Montessori, in San Francisco. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, and Master’s of Education with an emphasis in Instructional Technologies from San Francisco State University. She is passionate about personalized, whole-child learning, and fostering curiosity and independence in all children. Emily began her career in education as an upper elementary teacher in San Francisco public schools, most recently at West Portal Elementary, a dual program offering both English and Chinese Immersion classes. As a classroom teacher she partnered with community organizations such as the California Academy of Sciences, UCSF Medical School, and San Francisco Opera to provide authentic, project-based learning experiences for her students. Prior to Guidepost Montessori, Emily led the AltSchool Yerba Buena Campus as Head of School where she worked on placing students at the center of their learning, and using technology to enable student agency.
