Shannon Williams-Zou is a longtime educator, youth advocate, and equity-focused leader with nearly 30 years of experience working to transform schools and school systems into spaces of belonging and empowerment for young people. Her career has spanned roles as a teacher, instructional coach, principal, and now system-level consultant. Shannon currently serves as a coach and facilitator with the National Equity Project and as a lecturer with the Principal Leadership Institute at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Education. While Shannon holds a B.A. in English and Ethnic Studies and an M.A. in Education from UC Berkeley, as well as a J.D. from UC Law San Francisco, her highest honors are being mama to her two children and two fur babies, life partner to her spouse, daughter to her parents, and friend to many.
