Jennifer was born in Wuhan, China and grew up in Beijing and Jingdezhen. She came to the United States at the age of 7 and lived in Torrance (near Los Angeles). She moved to the Bay Area where she attended University of California, Berkeley and graduated with a B.A. in Integrative Biology with the intent to go to optometry school. After figuring out optometry wasn’t for her, she decided to follow her dreams to become a teacher and received her multiple subject teaching credential from Cal State Teach. She taught 4th grade for five years in the West Contra Costa District before transitioning to Yu Ming, where she taught 6th grade English and 7th grade science, 4th grade English, and middle school math. This will be Jennifer’s 7th year at Yu Ming. Jennifer’s teaching philosophy revolves around building a love and curiosity for learning as the primary goal before focusing on building academic skills. She believes motivation is the key behind effective learning. Jennifer has two children, including a proud Yu Ming Kindergartener.
