Last week, K-2 families came to inaugurate our Carolyn campus with our kindergarten welcome and ribbon cutting celebration. We were honored to host special guests ACBOE Vice President and Area 5 Trustee Janevette Cole, Area 6 Trustee Eileen McDonald, and Aisha Knowles, Trustee for the Carolyn Campus area (Area 4). Also joining the celebration were Yu Ming Board Directors Keta Brown (The Oakland Reach) and Jonathan Schorr (Be Clear Communications).
For the second consecutive year, Yu Ming is welcoming six kindergarten classes, up from three in the past, thanks to the hard work and partnership of so many in our community–Yu Ming families, staff, board members, and community partners–and the support of the Alameda County Board of Education (ACBOE). These additional classes allow Yu Ming to serve more Alameda County families, and most importantly, provide access to more historically underserved families than ever before–a crucial cornerstone of our commitment to offer a transformative public education.
