May 1, 2021

The Century Foundation recently showcased Yu Ming as a national model for how dual language immersion programs can create “diverse, inclusive, and integrated schools where all students and their families are welcomed and feel a deep sense of belonging.” The article points out that, “[w]hile Oakland is one of the most diverse cities in the United States, it is one of the most segregated in California’s Bay Area. Yu Ming is one of 57 organizations (school districts, charter schools, and housing organizations) selected from across the country to participate in the Century Foundation’s Bridges Collaborative and create “an America where every child has the opportunity to attend a school that is diverse, integrated, rigorous and inclusive.”
